A lot has been going on in the world of web browsers. Google Chrome recently crossed 1 billion users, Mozilla has announced some big changes are coming to Firefox. With the introduction of Windows 10, Microsoft has brought Microsoft Edge which is a successor to Internet Explorer. After chalking out the difference between Microsoft Edge vs Google Chrome, I’ve put the screws to all the modern browsers- Microsoft Edge vs Firefox vs Safari.
1. Microsoft Edge:
Microsoft Edge is the new web browser for Windows 10. Microsoft Edge allows you to take notes, doodle and highlight directly from the web pages. It also allows to share and save your handiwork in all the usual ways.
2. Mozilla Firefox:
Mozilla Firefox is a free, cross-platform Web Browser from Mozilla Corp. “Made with a mission to put you first”, Mozilla is voted as the Most Trusted Internet Company for Privacy. Firefox has a powerful layout as compared to its competitors. The latest version of firefox is version 40. Despite reaching to this new version, the tab bar is still placed above the address bar. It seems like an aesthetic issue rather than a functional one. It is possible to search within the address bar or the bar beside to its right. The bookmarking function in firefox is same as that in Chrome. The SETTINGS menu is also accessible in a similar fashion to that of Chrome. So if you are familiar with Chrome, you can easily navigate through Firefox.
Safari is a native browser to Mac devices. In the race for the fastest web browser, Safari was the one which had attracted a lot of criticism. But now, It is a serious competitor to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Apple has also introduced the latest version of Safari, but they have kept the design fairly minimal. The search bar and the address bar in Safari are different. The updates to Safari include a share icon which is embedded to the right of the search field. The new Safari web browser is worth a shot for the Mac users.

5.The Best Web Browsers- The Setup:
Each Web Browser was tested for benchmarks on a laptop having Intel Core 2 Duo processor (4M Cache, 2.40 GHz), 3 GB of DDR2 RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 graphics card. I tested the web browsers Microsoft Edge vs Firefox vs Safari with 2 benchmarks tests. Please note that, your results will be different because you will be using a different computer.
6. Microsoft Edge vs Firefox vs Safari- Boot Time:
One of the most slow-moving time is when you have to wait for the web browser to open. If the browser is sluggish then it makes the user irritate especially when he is busy. I’ve used Passmark’s Apptimer software to put them into their paces to see which one works faster. The tests were conducted 5 times and the average was calculated. Firefox has an opening time of 0.05 sec while Microsoft Edge took 0.03 sec. Nonetheless, Microsoft Edge has won here. So Edge is the Fastest Web Browser when it comes to boot time.
7. Which is the Best Web Browser- Benchmark Tests:
How to decide which is the best web browser?
The two benchmarks for the Microsoft Edge vs Firefox vs Safari are Peacekeeper and Sunspider. I’ve shown the results of Peacekeeper for Microsoft Edge in Microsoft Edge vs Google Chrome Web Browser comparison. So, I’ll show you the results for Firefox vs Safari.
With Peacekeeper benchmark, Mozilla Safari wins and for SunSpider benchmark, Microsoft Edge wins. Here goes the results…

The answer to the question- which is the best web browsers? depends on
PAGE LOADING SPEED of a web page…
The test was conducted thrice and the average was taken.
The numbers speak for themselves…
The Fastest Web Browser is Safari when it comes to page loading speed. The average time Safari takes is 1.89 to open a web page. Firefox takes 2.40, Chrome has a loading speed of 2 seconds whereas Microsoft Edge takes slightly more time i.e 2.61 seconds to open a web page.
Here is the graph for the top 5 web browsers By NetMarketShare. If you are wondering about why the statistics don’t add up to 100%, it’s because many people use older versions of browsers on their devices.
10. Security and Privacy:
The most valuable tool for secure browsing is user preference. In the past, every browser has faced
some security broaches. Chrome and Firefox has a reputation for protecting users secure and private
data at the best. Both Safari and Firefox rely on Google’s Safe Browsing API to detect the harmful sites and thnaks to the constant updates, Mozilla makes constant security updates. Both Chrome and Firefox has an incognito feature to prevent private sessions, history, temporary files and cookies. However, this features is not supported by Microsoft Edge because the DO NOT TRACK features is not honoured by Facebook and Google.
